President's Message

Pastor Everett Brown

God our Father in Heaven wants His children to build a Giving, Caring, Sharing community here on Earth. In acknowledgement that food is a basic need of humanity, Jesus Christ specified feeding the hungry as one of the criteria to test our fitness for entry into the Kingdom of God.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamaica is determined to fulfill that mandate. Persons in the community around us should not go hungry. So we are launching this Food Bank with the assurance that we have Divine approval, and with the assurance also that those who contribute to it will be greatly blessed.

Also we launch this Food Bank with the full cooperation and total involvement of the leadership of all five Conferences in Jamaica, and I am confident that we can count on our constituents for Total Member Involvement as we go forward on a mission to feed every hungry person in Jamaica—land we love.

We invite companies, organizations and everyone in Jamaica and wherever you are in the world to support this worthy Christly venture. Some have more to give than others and that is alright. In these perilous times, every little positive act will brighten a corner. Like the poor widow who gave her last two mites, some may have nothing more than a can of beans to give, give it anyway. It will make a difference to one hungry person, and “it is more blessed to give than to receive”.
